Nigerian International Azizat Oshoala will today make her debut appearance for Liverpool ladies when her team will battle it out with Sunderland Ladies on Wednesday 25th March, SL10 reports.
The mobile forward who was signed from Rivers Angels of Nigeria netted a goal in a friendly match victory against Aston Villa.
The 20-year-old played for Rivers Angels in Nigeria last season and had a remarkable 2014, where she led the Nigerian U20 women's team to a second place finish at the 2014 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, emerging as the Most Valuable Player.
The FC Robo product also helped the Nigerian senior women's national team, the Super Falcons to win the 2014 Africa Women Championship, also emerging as the Most Valuable Player.
She was crowned the best player in Africa on January 8, during the 2014 CAF African player of the year award ceremony. She was also crowned as the best young player on the continent.
Oshoala is the first African woman to play in the English Women's Super League.
After facing the Sunderland, the Reds will then face Birmingham City Ladies in Widnes on Wednesday 1st April before visiting last season’s runners up Chelsea Ladies on Sunday 19th April.
Matt Beard’s side will then play current Continental Cup holders Manchester City Women twice within the space of five days in April, on Saturday 25th April (home) and Wednesday 29th April (away) respectively, before travelling to Notts County Ladies on Sunday 10th May.
The re-start of the Women’s Super League, following the conclusion of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in Canada, will see the Reds travel to London to play Arsenal Ladies on Sunday 12th July before Notts County Ladies visit the Select Security Stadium on Saturday 18th July.
For the third season in a row, Liverpool Ladies will close the season by facing Bristol Academy although the reigning champions will be making the journey South West this year on Sunday, 4th October.
