Water scarcity in Orile Lagos this morning-photos

As dry season continues, many residents are still finding a way of containing the level of water scarcity that is associated with the season. This is because the common source of water to many homes in Lagos which is dug wells are drying up . What I saw shocked me as women and children were scampering for water all over the place and the water vendors that we patronize everyday became busier than ever before with their prices hiked. There reason is that water is hard to find.


I quickly took a picture of a growing crowd around my house waiting for their turn at a commercial water tank location.

The big and shocking news is that whenever you see broken pipes mostly inside the gutters, their must be water flowing out of them and no house around the area can boast of having these pipes  channeled to their homes.

Another shocker is this. Near these gutters that host broken pipes, you will find generators numbering up to ten pumping water from the broken pipes to various commercial water tanks owned by private individuals in different streets. These water pumping generators  keep running while the owners are at their various water  business locations filling their tanks and selling to helpless and willing buyers.

Does the government know about this? Yes I am sure because any serious agency should know how it's  installations are been operated.

This shows how governments at various levels have neglected many high revenue generating ventures while waiting for monthly allocations from Abuja.

With the amount of money Nigerians spend providing water, power and others for themselves, I'm sure government can generate more money from the citizens thereby making them save more from the prevailing harsh situation if they  can provide these basic needs.
