Reports show that Bird flu has hit Lagos state with over 2000 birds lost in the outbreak.The state government said it had commenced intensive surveillance, which would focus on all poultry farms in the state in order to prevent spread of the deadly disease.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Cooperatives, Mr. Gbolahan Lawal, disclosed the bird flu outbreak at a news conference he addressed alongside his health counterpart, Dr. Jide Idris in Alausa, Lagos.
“During the last Christmas and New Year period, the Veterinary Department of the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives received a report of high mortalities of birds in poultry markets across the state”, he said.

Fire disaster rocks Lagos Berlin Market

After ther fire disater that rocked Balogu market on the 12th of January which razed goods and properties worth millions of naira,another fire incident has been recorded at Berlin market this morning.
According to eye witnesses,the market was on fire from as early as 4am, from one of the Mandilas buildings.
So far, several shops have been engulfed.
Rasaq Fadipe, Director of the Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed this incident. The cause of the fire is still undetermined.

10 year old child executioner recruited to kill by ISIS

The Islamic terrorist organisation ISIS has distributed a vedio clip of a 10 year old boy shown shooting a Russian spy in the head while an elderly man stood behind him reading out the victims offences.

The two executed men were purportedly FSB (Russian intelligence agency) officers sent to spy on ISIS and gather intelligence on “Caliph” Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. One of them admitted to being a Kafir (infidel), having converted from Islam. The two men are seen confessing to their “sins” against ISIS and are then executed by the child.

Boko Haram attacks linked to Nigerian 2015 elections-US

According to information emanating from US Department of States’ daily briefing in Washington,the US government has described the incessant attacks to be likely linked to the coming 2015 general election in Nigeria.
“There has been a sharp escalation in the number of reported casualties. I think the numbers tend to be from about 2009 to 2013 – there were a little over 1,000 casualties. I mean, we’ve obviously all seen the reported numbers just this week – which we can’t confirm exactly, but it clearly shows there’s been a sharp escalation.source

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, lost the control of the House of Representatives by numerical strenght yesterday when 8 PDP members defected to various parties while the All Progressive Congress APC regains dominance of the House.

Four of the defectors joined the rival All Progressives Congress, giving indications that the leading opposition party had gained the control of the House as the majority party.
The All Progressives Grand Alliance gained two of the defectors, while the Peoples Democratic Movement and the Social Democratic Party each gained one, bringing to eight the total PDP defectors on Wednesday.

Nine PDP members decamp to APC

On the resumption of Senate January plenary yesterday, nine members of People's Democratic Party PDP defected to the All Progressive Congress APC and Labour party.

While some of the Senators left PDP after they lost at the primaries, the opposition parties had willingly accepted them and gave them the ticket to run. One of them is Senator Atiku Bagudu Abubakar, representing Kebbi Central, who joined APC and was given the party ticket to contest the governorship election.source
